Challenge

Vestas needed films to raise internal awareness about three key technological advancements for their future wind turbine testing and development, as well as the associated timeline. The goal was to present the highly complex technology in a manner that is simple yet understandable for high-level executives and coworkers across different departments.

Process

We initiated the project by meeting with Vestas employees. During these discussions, we identified the purpose, target groups, and formats, which, as always, are crucial to determine early in the process.

Through meetings with the involved specialists and intensive preparations, we gained a deep understanding of the advanced technologies to the extent that we could use this knowledge to build the storyboard. Unlike typical product films, we did not have a physical product to showcase, nor a software program, as the technology was still under development. Therefore, we decided to use VFX and, in close collaboration with the involved parties, agreed on the visual designs for the technologies and the narration. During these meetings, we visited the factories to scout locations and acquire insights into the production line, enabling us to devise a plan to minimize disruption to production. This preparation ensured that before the actual production began, we knew exactly how each story would be presented visually and in terms of narration.

The production and shooting plan for this project was particularly comprehensive due to the numerous parties involved from Vestas, production timelines, and the extensive approvals required within a corporation the size of Vestas.
